Earlier this year, New Balance introduced the 5030; a futuristic addition to its growing lifestyle runner lineup.
Following the success of the 2000 and 2010 models, the 5030 expands New Balance’s ABZORB-focused family. While the silhouette carries signature New Balance DNA, it takes a more progressive approach to design. The goal behind the 5030 was to create something instantly recognisable, yet difficult to compare directly to any one previous model.
The Future of Sneaker Design
Although traditional New Balance styles are often layered with mesh, suede, and leather panelling, the 5030 strips things back with a cleaner, more streamlined build. According to New Balance employees, the iconic 530 played a major role in shaping the design direction of the 5030. Using the 530 as its foundation, the brand pushed the silhouette into a more contemporary and futuristic space.
Comfort remains at the core of the design. The New Balance 5030 features visible ABZORB SBS pods in the heel, paired with a soft foam midsole for everyday cushioning and support. The fully moulded synthetic upper is finished with flowing wave-like grooves, adding depth and movement to the sleek design.
