About Us
Stirling Sports opened their first Store on Dominion Road in Auckland in 1964. The first Stirling Sports franchises were awarded in 1983 after Stirling Sports had invested almost 20 years in developing the best sports retail stores in New Zealand.
The Stirling Sports group are pioneers of business format franchising in New Zealand, under the direction of the group founder and former Managing Director, Colin Taylor. Today the name Stirling Sports has very high customer recall, great reputation, and loyal customers, and remains the largest nationwide chain with high profile stores servicing the community in all major cities and towns.
New ownership in 2006, saw the roll-out of a new store format in the Sylvia Park Store in Auckland, which signified a new direction for the Group with its High Street and mall based stores. Presently, the Stirling Sports Group has over 40 stores, and continues to grow.
One of the strengths of the Stirling Sports Franchise Network are the Buying Groups.Buying groups are a collection of experienced retailers with knowledge of the category. They view the ranges presented by the major brands and select the products best suited to our stores, giving you confidence in our range.
Stirling Sports originally went online in February 2008, and as online demand grew the original website required an upgrade to meet the demands of a new generation of consumer. In 2010 the existing website changed ownership and is owned and operated by Russell Fowler and Sue Dawson who hold the Stirling Sports Dunedin Franchise.
